As the next few years went by God added to the church and a stable crew of disciples set about doing the work of the Lord. Bishop Knox designated Friday nights for Bible study and continued to train "willing workers" for service. Soon, First Lady Bobbie Knox and their three children (David, Quinetta, and Samuel Gerald) relocated to Springfield.
Deep in the heart of this man of God lay dreams to be fulfilled and exploits to be done: the on-going teaching of God's word; instruction in evangelism; caring for the practical needs of the poor, the outcast, the desperate and despondent, and even job training for young men and women to give them real alternatives to the dishonest and ill-fated lifestyles that some regard as their only option.
In the late seventies, the church began its prison outreach ministry. Through the eighties God continued to move on that little corner at Sherman and Division Streets. People continued to be saved, healed, delivered, encouraged, taught and trained for service.
